Imagine No Malaria is an organization that helps to prevent and treat malaria in Africa. To date, they have raised more than $80,000 with the support of their churches, grandparents (the Rev. Don and Mary Lou Lefelar and the Rev. Adriel and Avis Thrash) and their extended church family.
This will be the 10th and final year of the lemonade stand, and their goal is to raise a total of $100,000 for the 10 years they have worked on the project.
If you would like to donate, the final lemonade stand will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, June 13 on the east lawn of Hoover Auditorium.
Or, if you can’t attend, please send donations to 705 Oak Ave., Lakeside, Ohio, 43440. If you would like to write a check, please make it out to Westlake United Methodist Church (or WUMC) and write “Imagine No Malaria” in the memo line.
Malaria is 100% preventable. Thanks to medical advancements, malaria was eliminated in the U.S. and other developed countries in the 1950s. But, in sub-Saharan African, malaria continues to claim the life of a child once every two minutes.
