Lakeside Chautauqua’s internship program offers opportunities to build a solid skill base to launch any successful career.

During the summer, interns learn about the operations of a nonprofit and tourism destination, have fun in the sun, meet Lakesiders from all walks of life, develop new friendships and create networking connections. This unique experience is unparalleled with excitement, variety, challenge, and long-lasting growth.

This year, Lakeside was fortunate to have over 15 summer interns working in various departments, including Marketing, Conference & Events, Religious Life, Hoover Auditorium, Programming, and more. Ben Pollizi originates from Chippewa Lake and is Hoover Auditorium’s Assistant Technical Director/Lighting Technician this year. He plans to graduate from Heidelberg University in spring 2023 with a degree in theatre with a concentration in musical theatre.

“I have loved all the wonderful people I’ve gotten to meet and work with at Lakeside,” Pollizi said. “From my peerson the Hoover Crew to my fellow college-aged staff and interns, the acts in Hoover, and more. Everyone here is so wonderful and helps create the magic that is this community.”

Another highlighted intern is Hailey Bartels from Lima. She will graduate from Valparaiso University in Indiana in 2023. Bartels is Lakeside’s Accounting Intern this summer. Though this is her first summer interning at Lakeside, she has been coming here for the past three years. Bartels says that her favorite part about Lakeside is the sense of community and friendships she has made here.

Hadyn Burrell

Lakeside has also had the chance to have interns from out of the state. Hadyn Burrell, Lakeside’s Photography Intern, is from Naperville, Illinois. She plans to graduate from Indiana Wesleyan University in the spring of 2023. Burrell feels that her internship has helped her grow in both photography experience and personal skills.

“My experience at Lakeside has been great,” said Burrell. “It has been an awesome opportunity to get more materials for my portfolio and meet so many kind people.”
