Lakesiders will be treated to a rare experience as professional Chrisitian jazz musician Johnny Parker joins soloist Jacob D. Bates and Michael Shirtz for Sunday worship music leadership in Hoover Auditorium July 17 at 10:30 a.m.

Parker has 20 years of experience in music ministry as a professional bassist, songwriter/producer/arranger, teacher, member and publisher for American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. He is a visionary in the field of Christian entertainment devel-opment, marketing/promotion, organizational design consultant and social work. He organized the Hough Community Chorus for The Cleveland Orchestra residency in Hough and is the former co-artistic director for Spirit of the Groove: Jazz meets Gospel in conjunction with the Tri-C JazzFest. Parker is currently the Director of Worship and Fine Arts for the Rhema Fellowship Church in Cleveland.

Preceding the worship service, Parker and Shirtz will offer a music workshop at 9 a.m. on the stage of Hoover Auditorium. All singers are invited to attend, whether or not you have been part of Lakeside Chautauqua’s music program or choir groups in the past.
