Volunteers are essential to the quality of the Lakeside Chautauqua experience year-round. 
From Rhein Center teachers and Hoover Auditorium greeters to Lakeside Fund Ambassadors and master gardeners, Lakeside Chautauqua extends a sincere thank you to the countless volunteers who have dedicated their time and support to the mission of Lakeside.
Lakeside especially thanks the Nurnberger family for their dedication in helping to beautify the Lakeside Chautauqua community. Four years ago, Mark and Beth Nurnberger began giving their time to the Kenton Row Garden after their friend and neighbor, Holly Gordon, enlisted their help.
The Kenton Row Garden, located on the corner of Second Street and Kenton Row, was a memorial garden to the Cornwell Family, along with the flagpole garden by the shuffleboard courts.
The Nurnbergers have spent the past few years tending to this garden, two shuffleboard gardens and the Second Street Garden.
“We like doing this as a way to give back to Lakeside,” says Beth.
The Nurnbergers, along with Gordon, helped plant other gardens throughout the community and have even established gardens at the Lakeside Campground, where they reside throughout the summer.
The Nurnbergers also volunteer their time at off-season events, including the Annual Lakeside Plant Sale and Spring Cleanup Day.
“We enjoy helping people buy their plants and seeing everyone coming back after the winter,” says Beth.
For the Nurnbergers, these off-season events mean that their countdown to Lakeside is nearing.
“We have met many wonderful people through our volunteering,” says Beth.
The family has 25 years of memories spent at Lakeside.
The Nurnberger family enjoys the overall atmosphere of Lakeside, especially the people, programming, worship opportunities and the Lakeside Campground.
“Lakeside is a big part of our lives,” adds Beth.
Their daughters, Carrie, Annie and Meg, also enjoy Lakeside. Their oldest daughter, Carrie, was a member of the Lakeside Leadership Academy and worked as the Lakesider Editor for two summers.
She has also volunteered as a Lakeside Fund Ambassador, and now serves on the Lakeside Chautauqua Arts Advisory Team, a subcommittee of the Lakeside Chautauqua Board of Directors.
Lakeside is grateful for each and every volunteer and for the countless hours they have given throughout the year to support Lakeside. Thank you for your time and energy.

Thanks to all who contribute to the beautiful flowers at Lakeside. One of my favorite things to do at Lakeside is to walk or ride my bike by all of the beautiful gardens and take pictures. Great job!
