To open the official Chautauqua season, Grammy-winning fiddler, Natalie MacMaster, will be joined onstage by her husband, Donnell Leahy, and their family on Saturday, June 21. This powerhouse family of Celtic music will perform toe-tapping jigs and Irish reels.

Next on the roster is the 1980s pop-rock band, 10,000 Maniacs. This iconic group will appear in Lakeside on Saturday, June 28 to perform favorites “More Than This” and “These Are Days.” The group is currently on tour in support of Music from the Motion Picture, their first album in 14 years. Mary Ramsey now serves as the band’s lead singer.

CeCe Winans, a multiple Grammy, Stellar and Dove Award-winning gospel artist, will return to Lakeside to perform hits from her gold- and platinum-certified albums on Saturday, July 12. Winans is considered one of today’s most genuine gospel artists, and her passion for God is evident in her positive and inspirational music.

Blood, Sweat & Tears, a 1970s Grammy-winning jazz-rock band, featuring “American Idol” alum Bo Bice, will rock the Hoover Auditorium stage on Saturday, July 19. The band recently developed a more contemporary voice. Although this new collaboration does not include any of the original band members, the original style remains intact.

As the summer continues, Capitol Steps (rated PG) takes the stage to perform a collection of humorous skits about current events, politics and famous society icons on Friday, July 25. The comedic group tackles both sides of the political spectrum to entertain audiences of all types.

Continuing an annual tradition, the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra will play eight riveting concerts during its month-long residency in Lakeside Chautauqua. This year, the symphony will perform light classics, feature several soloists, highlight the music of Judy Garland and play alongside the Pointe of Departure Ballet Company. The summer concert series will open on Wednesday, July 30 and conclude on Friday, Aug. 22.

One of this summer’s most anticipated concerts will feature Michael W. Smith on Saturday, Aug. 16. Smith is a contemporary Christian artist and three-time Grammy winner. Some of his chart-topping hits include, “Above All,” “Open The Eyes Of My Heart” and “Place In This World.”

Chubby Checker & The Wildcats, widely known for popularizing the twist dance style of the 1960s, will perform their No. 1 hit, “The Twist,” and many other favorites, over Labor Day weekend on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Finally, this year’s Summer Celebration Ceremony will feature a performance by The Tartan Terrors on Sunday, Aug. 31. As North America’s premiere Celtic band, The Tartan Terrors include entertaining music, comedy and lively dancing in each show.
